Gardening Club

The Gardening Club was established in 2007 for students to have an opportunity to plant and grow a variety of organic produce in the grounds of St. Martins.
The garden layout was designed by students and built by the local community. Over the years it has produced many vegetables, herbs and even fruit, as well as its own compost. Recycling is evident and the garden is self-sufficient.
Students tend the garden after school, once a week, from late spring right through until the autumn. Then the darker nights mean that the Club retreats indoors to plan for the following year’s crop. As well as forward planning for the next season, students also spend the time making items to sell at the Christmas fair, such as hanging baskets and herb markers.
