There are less than two weeks to go until our first Performing Arts Musical, ‘Back to the 80s’. ‘Back to the 80s’ is our first production and tells the story of the 1989 graduating class of William Ocean High as seen through the eyes of the narrator, Corey Palmer Sr., who is now living in the year 2001. For all those who were around in the 80s (and those who weren’t) you’ll love the show. We are developing a vibrant and exciting Performing Arts department: Mr Clay, our superb head of music has been joined this year by Ms Pape in Drama and we have just appointed Ms Smith, a dance teacher. She will begin in September later this year. Tickets are available from the office and via parentmail. For any ticket queries contact the office or email email@example.com.
The exam season is also arriving, beginning with Year 10 who have a number of GCSE mock exams coming up in May. There are also three GCSE Double Science modules for those doing GCSE Double Science. Teacher will be delivering revision sessions and giving out revision materials – however students must feel free to ask for help if support is needed. The library is also open for revision and private study each day after school apart from Fridays.
This term will see all our year groups sitting end of year exams. Year 10, many of whom will be sitting their first GCSE in June, will be having their mock exams for this year in the week beginning May 11th. Year 10 exam timetables will go out next week. We also have the Year 10 Parents Evening coming up on Thursday April 30th 2015; letters for this will also be going out this week.
As parents will be aware, our school uniform is in a period of transition, currently Year 7 and Year 10 have the new school uniform which includes a blazer. From September 2015, all students at St Martin’s will be required to wear the new uniform. In the interim, there is no summer uniform (i.e. no Polo Shirts). Pupils will wear their normal shirts although jumpers are optional. For full details click here.
Finally, good luck to our GCSE Art Trip to Walsall Art Gallery this Tuesday.
