Firstly, thank you to the science department who have been working hard to prepare many of our Year 10 students for their first science GCSE exam in June. Monday June 1st is a Staff Training Day, however, all of year 10 have been invited in for a day’s worth of science revision.
On our return we also have end of year examinations for the rest of the school, beginning with Year 7 on June 2nd. For exam timetables and revision help click here.
Last week we had our year 9 trip to Plas Gwynant in Wales, a great week of outdoor pursuits. There are some photos below, thank you to Mr Murphy for organising and leading the trip. We also had a very successful trip to Edinburgh for some students who received the Government's Future Scholar Awards to visit Edinburgh University last week. Thanks for Mrs Jones and Mrs Lynch-Kelly for leading.
Thanks as well go to the students who planned the lovely Pentecost liturgy, a collaboration between our two feeder schools of St Peter’s in Hinckley and St Peter’s in Earl Shilton. Year 6 and 7 pupils went to all three schools to present the liturgy they had prepared.
This term’s charity is LEPRA, an organisation that does life changing work with some of the world’s poorest. Most of our students took part on a sponsored Street Dance workout to raise money. Thanks as well to all the friends and family who also supported the fund raiser.
Thanks for Mr Carton who led a really enjoyable trip with Year 7 to see the ‘Horrible Histories’ and visit the Leicestershire New Walk Museum & Art Gallery – click here for some photos. Also well done to our Netball teams who were on tour last weekend in Torquay. All played very well and our Year 8 team were overall winners of the ‘Team Challenge’ (Out of 25 teams Year 7-10!). Thank you to Mrs Murphy for organising the trip and to Mrs Lowry and Mrs Beaty for joining the girls on the tour.
On Tuesday there is a PTFA meeting in school from 7.00 to 8.45pm in the Geography room. The PTFA do great work at Saint Martin’s raising money for the school and supporting our students. All welcome.
Good luck to our year 9 pupils who are off to Snowdonia this week. We also welcome pupils from Saint Peter’s in Hinckley and in Earl Shilton who are joining our students on Tuesday and planning a joint Pentecost liturgy.
Finally, half term is almost here. We break up for the Whitsun Break on Friday and pupils return on Tuesday June 2nd (Monday June 1st is a staff training day).
