CAMPUS LIFE DAY
Saint Martin’s were provided the opportunity for Year 10 students to spend a day at De Montfort University discovering more about the life of a student at university. The event focused on raising awareness and aspirations of students encouraging higher education to be considered.
The students were involved in various sessions which highlighted the academic side of university. Firstly, they attended a short lecture regarding honorary degrees, followed by a seminar and library trail. Students were able to understand the contrast between a lecture and seminar.
DMU's new Vijay Patel Building, home to art and design courses, is the centrepiece of the recent £136 million Campus Transformation Project. Everyone were able to experience the brand new student Food Court.
Students had the opportunity to work with and talk to current undergraduate students and experience a campus tour providing students with an insight to the lifestyle. During the afternoon, the ideas of extra-curricular activities available at the university were explored. The winning team was a society involving food and music. At the end of the day, with the exception of one student, all considered university to be a future option.
