There was a buzz of celebration this morning at Saint Martin’s, with the excited students and their families celebrating some really impressive GCSE results. We are projected to have a record Progress 8 score this year (The main measure that schools have to show how much academic progress pupils have made since starting in Year 7) with over 36% of all the grades achieved at GCSE being grade 7s or higher, nationally it is 22%. 82% of pupils achieved a grade 4 or higher in both their Maths and English. There were so many pupils who did exceptionally well, from students who might have struggled academically but through hard work, never-the-less, outperformed expectations, through to academical highflyers.

Our highest achieving student was Toby Porter who gained ten grade 9’s and 2 grade 8’s. Our highest achieving girl was Abi Ramsdale who achieved seven grade 9s and three grade 8’s.

Clive Wright, Headteacher at Saint Martin’s said, “As ever, we’re really proud of our pupils who have worked so hard as well as their teachers who, year after year, enable our students to achieve brilliant outcomes at GCSE. We wish all our Year 11’s every success and blessing in their future lives”.
