Red Wednesday is an annual event organised by Aid to the Church in Need.
Red Wednesday highlights the suffering experienced by Christians (and people of other faiths) who are persecuted or discriminated against because of their faith or beliefs. Many churches, parishes, schools and communities across the world mark Red Wednesday through special events, activities and, especially, prayer.
Aid to the Church in Need have been hosting events across the country to raise awareness of communities who are under religious persecution, especially Christian communities. To this end, we at school took part in Red Wednesday in support and solidarity with those communities. Students also attended a Red Wednesday Mass with Bishop Patrick at Ratcliffe College on Monday 18th November. Chris and Miss Clensy attended with students from our Chaplaincy Leadership and our SVP Teams. We shared a wonderful Mass of Red Wednesday and heard from the National Director of Aid to the Church in Need about how much these communities rely on our prayers and support.
